EDITOR’S NOTE

Dear readers,

I am pleased to present you with our first issue of the Journal for 2011. We are extremely proud of the achievements of the International Journal of Arts Management over the past few years. In recent years our peer-reviewed journal has demonstrated, at the international level, that it is possible to produce high-quality research in the field of arts management. The Journal is positioned at the forefront of multidisciplinary research and has contributed to the advancement of knowledge in the areas of management related to the arts and culture sector and the cultural industries. In the process, it has earned an outstanding reputation among its peers.

As of 1 October 2010 we had subscribers in as many as 49 countries. Further raising our visibility among international readers, we recently signed an agreement with JSTOR: IJAM will henceforth be indexed in this digital archive offering access to more than twelve hundred journals. JSTOR’s archive will include all articles published in IJAM from its founding in 1998 up to three years preceding the current issue. All of the Journal’s articles are already indexed in the ProQuest ABI/INFORM database.

In the coming months we will be engaging in a process of reflection aimed at increasing our outreach within the academic community. Our goal is to establish IJAM as one of the world’s leading multidisciplinary journals in order to help advance the careers of our academic colleagues. I am convinced that IJAM has reached the level of maturity necessary to become one of the most cited journals for research in the field of arts management

In closing, I am pleased to announce the appointment of a new associate editor, Ian Gilhespy of University College Ply-. mouth St Mark and St John in Plymouth, England. Professor Gilhespy will be overseeing the Strategic and Financial Performance section of the Journal. We are delighted to welcome him to our team.

Happy reading!
