Dear readers and members of the Arts Management community,

The International Journal of Arts Management was founded by me in 1998 at HEC Montréal. Right at the start of this adventure, AIMAC adopted IJAM as its official journal.

Now, after almost 25 years, IJAM has become an important vehicle for the transmission of scientific knowledge in Arts Management. It has moved slowly but steadily down the path of the different citation indexes. According to the Journal of Citation Reports (JCR), IJAM’s score is 1.0. Last year, JCR created a new category of journals called the Arts and Humanities Citation Index (AHCI). According to this index, we are an “A” journal, because our ranking is as follows:

Ranks: 12/149
Quartile: Q1
Percentile: 92.8 

We will see how this index evolves in the coming years.

When colleagues cite an article from our journal, it helps to increase awareness of IJAM as a place to publish. In another positive development, more and more universities around the world are considering IJAM to be a “B” journal. We are gaining credibility in our field and also among other arms of the management research community.

In order to further our mission and reach, HEC Montréal has formed a partnership with SDA Bocconi. You may be aware that IJAM now has two Editors-in-Chief. Our colleague Professor Alex Turrini from SDA Bocconi and Associate Professor Jennifer Wiggins from Kent State University are now Co-Editors-in-Chief. Dr. André Courchesne remains on the IJAM Board as Managing Editor. I remain Founding Editor. We are also adding an Associate Editor and modifying a title: Philippe Ravanas becomes Associate Editor for IJAM Case Studies (previously Company Profile) and Professor Antonio J. Cuyler leads a new section called Practitioners’ Perspectives.

I am very pleased with our partnership with SDA Bocconi and very grateful for the support of the entire Arts Management community through AIMAC. As you may know, I was also the host of the first AIMAC conference, held at HEC Montréal in 1991. My dream of assembling the research community around an international conference and an academic journal devoted to Arts Management has come true. More and more solid researchers have joined our group. This bodes well for the future of the Journal and for AIMAC as well as for the credibility of Arts Management as an academic field.
