ABSTRACT
This research proposes a coopetitive business model (CBM) framework by connecting two streams of literature in the field of strategic management: the business model (BM) literature and research on coopetition (the combination of competition and cooperation). The aim of this article is to provide insights into how companies can build a coopetitive business model with their strategic partners. To contribute to meeting this objective, this article focuses on an in-depth qualitative case study conducted in the architecture industry on the cooperation between the three competitive firms in charge of renovating Montparnasse Tower in Paris. The main contributions of the article lie in its definition of the dimensions of a CBM in the cultural and creative industries and its demonstration of how a CBM can foster the innovative capacity and growth of individual architectural firms.
